'A Glimpse of Schwitters' is another composition created for the Dresden-based vocal ensemble AuditivVokal.
Amidst a world on the brink of change, a sonic collage rises – fragmented, poetic, political. The piece is inspired by Kurt Schwitters’ Ursonate – that iconic sound composition where language dissolves into rhythm, meaning into motion, and sense into playful abstraction.
It reflects a pre-war atmosphere – a fragile time where voices clash like ideologies. No single voice dominates; instead, a chorus of perspectives wrestles for space, sometimes clashing, sometimes blending, often uncertain.
Party 1 murmurs and questions. Intellectual discontent. The world is falling apart and no one is listening
Party 2 longs for harmony. A voice for peace, soft but persistent in the roar of louder forces
Party 3 demands action. The drums of war beat loud – is it finally time? Can we strike now
Party 4 is torn. A volatile debate unfolds between the dictator and the voice of reason, between incitement and reflection.
What remains is a brief, sharp, unsettling moment when everything could tip.
An echo of the 20th century, heard anew through the lens of contemporary sound.
